MUD ... the Joy of Spring.

Mud IS good. (click for some serious mudding!)

We are still without internet on our new homestead, but I suppose that gives us more time to enjoy the great outdoors rather than the great Wide Web (But oh, how I miss the web). I have so appreciated your recent comments and e-mails ... and I hope that you will continue to check back here even though my responses and posts have been few and far between ... please stick around ... as there is much I look forward to sharing with you all.

Life here in the city is better than good. I see my best friends nearly daily. My son walks to his grandparents house every morning for a brownie and a glass of milk (a traditional Renshaw breakfast). My Mom and I hang out our windows to chat with one another. And I have developed a regular thrift store schedule (oh the bargains!). Life is good.

I hope you all are well. I should have internet in a week or so :)

Much Love,

Jodi & Family

A sweet combination...

HB019 (with name)

I got this soft green paper a few weeks ago and wanted so much to make a card with it with a combination of white and pink. And the day finally came for me to do that when a customer of mine wanted a soft green and pink card! :) Her request couldn't have come at a better time.....I was eager to experiment it and see how it will turn out. I have done a combination of soft apple green and pink paper before and I loved how the colour suits each other and wanted to see if this soft green would look good too with pink and it did.....so I'm very happy with it.....I even made the handmade envelope of the same colour....to match the card.... :) sweet!

HB019 (without name)

This is the same design I made for another customer.....but the only difference is that the wordings does not include any particular name on it.....just a simple "Happy Birthday" on the card. The colour of the card looks a bit different because this one I took using the scanner instead of the digital camera :).

Striking pink and red birthday card

HB018 (VERSION2)
*This card is available for order.
(I designed this card as a replacement for HB018 due to the paper which is unavailable at the stores at the moment)

HB018 VERSION 1 (NOT AVAILABLE)
This is another card request that I designed for my customer....a request for a pink and red combination......I love how the red + white flower stand out on the card....very striking and catches your attention straight away... :)

I wanted to show everyone this design I made which is exactly the same as the one above except for the wordings in front that does not include any name on it except for a simple "Happy Birthday". :)

Squirrel Haven.

My dad feeds the squirrels on our new property - alot - he feeds them ALOT. And therefore, they stay - lots, and lots and lots of them stay. Everywhere. And we love it! Here is a new friend of ours --- eating a burrito. Without the aid of any "beano". Poor Mrs. Squirrel.

Hope you are all well.

Lots of love,
Jodi

P.S. Still working on the house :)

Brown owl with a twist of green

HB017

I designed this card a few days ago for a regular customer of mine....she requested for a birthday card with an owl on it. She requested a card with an owl before which was last year for the same friend's birthday...so I used the same template for the owl but I made the card a bit different in colours and layout design..a mixture of olive green and shades of brown which I love so much.... :)

We Are Moved In & Still Constructing ... but Happy to Do So!

We are happy to be in our new house ... but oh so busy with making it into a home :) I hope you are all doing well. And I SO look forward to sharing more with you all as soon as we get our internet connected. For now, I am using a friend's connection in order to give a "shout out" to my "peeps".

Much love to you all,

Jodi

P.S. I have just listed several more goodies on Etsy ...

For my favourite teacher

TD004

TD004b

This particular card has the same apple decoration on the inside of the card just like the one in MTD001. The only difference is the design on the front of the card, which is much more simplified with simple dotted lines framing the wordings on the card.

I'm so glad that I am able to blog about this card design before Teacher's Day arrives this coming Friday hehehe! As we all know, Teachers’ Days are intended to be special days for the appreciation of teachers. We honor and recognize the lasting contributions they make in our lives. On this special day, students expresses their respect to their teachers by preparing a special party for them.....they also prepare the food and drinks plus the gifts, flowers and cards that expresses their love for their favourite teachers....Even ex-students pay their respects to their former teachers by visiting them at their homes... :)

I've always wanted to design a teacher's day card with an apple in it! hehehe! And finally I did! The red apple has always been a symbol of appreciation for teachers by their students....and that's what I am trying to portray here in my design.....the red apple with a gold heart shape on it as a gift for their favourite teacher.....with simple wordings on the front of the card, says it all.....with the tiny heart shapes and flower decorations that are made by punched out papers and also cut by hand....adds a special touch to the design.....the gold vines are hand drawn as well........this card would be perfect for that favourite teacher that you have always wanted to show appreciation to..... :)
Happy Teacher's Day to all teachers around the world!!!!! :)

On the Move.

Hooray, Hooray, we are finally moving our furniture into our new house! It is going to be a busy weekend, as it is also the 2nd Anniversary of Isaac's homecoming (can you believe it?) as well as a well earned Mother's Day :) I shall post pics as I can. Meanwhile, enjoy your Friday night.

Making "Nice" With Chickens.

Yesterday, I taught Isaac the fine art of digging for worms... truly one of my favorite outdoor activities. Hands digging through damp, sweet smelling dirt is always a treat for the senses. And he - being a boy and all - thought it was great too. We found lots of wriggling worms ... which Isaac thought were pretty neat ... then I showed him how we can make some very tight friendships with the chickens if we offer these worms up to them as treats. Well, then he thought this endeavor was down-right amazing!

Hand feeding chickens ... who are generally skiddish by nature ... can be so much fun. And the chicken you see here is among our friendliest. She is my favorite bird in all the world ... Chicken Jane. I hand fed her as a baby chick. So, whenever she sees me digging through the dirt, she comes a-running and joins in the feast. Now Isaac is learning to form his own relationship with her - and it is wonderful to watch.

It is so important for our childrens' souls that we parents model kind and respectful behavior toward animals. We nurture such tender hearts that way. And my Isaac has such a great respect for life because of it. I am so proud of him. And let's face it ... to make friends with a chicken is just so cool! Especially when they follow you around the yard ... cooing ... and cuddle up in your lap when you take a rest on the lawn. One of the greatest treats of the spring/summer seasons.

Oh.. But then Jack often comes around to ruin it all ...

(Notice the fleeing chickens ...) Still ... we also love Jack too :)

Enjoy the day,

Love,

Jodi

The Penobscot River Crests in Major Maine Flooding...

... and Isaac, Auntie Missy and I were there to watch some of it ... from a safe distance, of course.

Here is hoping that our friends and neighbors stay dry...
