Happy Birthday to me: My BRAND-NEW website is up!!!

Today, it's my birthday! I'm turning 33 years old and a bit wiser. As a present to myself, I made a new-site (it's wordpress based) and I uploaded it some minutes ago.

You may visit it here: www.onemanshowstudio.com

I like this site much more than the last one, mostly because each project has now at least one tag (category), so you can browse the site as you like. Another thing that I like is that the template/theme that I used for the new site, is grid-based (omg! I love grids so much).

Feel free to send me your feedback on the new site. I've uploaded some new projects also, from the last months' works (oh, and FINALLY, some of my "photography" projects). The site is still a work-in-progress project. I want to upload many more projects from the last couple of years (from now on, I will upload projects mostly on weekends).

That's all for now. So.... happy birthday to me!

Got them today via air-mail! Four business cards (for me and my friends) of Monsieur Cabinet, a brilliant designer/illustrator from Great Britain, that I really admire.

He is mailing these mustache cards for a fun project: wear the mustache! Below you can see my picture.

 High five!

P.S.#1 > Follow him on twitter, too!
P.S.#2 > Click on the images to see larger pictures :P

UPDATE 03.06.2011 >>>
Monsieur Cabinet has a brand new site & my photo is featured on the thumbnail of the mustache project :P

Photography > Stifado event at Spata!

On Saint Peter's day there's an event at Spata (the town that I'm living), in which people are cooking, from previous night "Stifado" -a great, Greek dish- in large quantities and then they sell it in the morning. Basically, it's kind of a ritual.

It was my first time attending the event and I had a blast taking some pictures, early in the morning.

New workspace!

For the last couple of weeks, I'm re-arranging my space. I moved all of my office stuff into a bigger room, which was the giganto books' warehouse for the last 3 years. The new office is much-much bigger and definitely brighter. It's kind of noisy too (it's near a big road) but I don't mind that. I bought some second-hand furniture (the desk & the bookshelf -actually the bookshelf was a present from Dionyssis) from the garage-sale of the design shop, so a moving into a bigger room had to be done asap.

Still it's kind of messy. It takes a lot of time organizing all this stuff that I have. I'll manage somehow...

Photography > Man smoking in Notara str, Exarcheia

Some days ago, while I was trying to find a parking spot for my car at downtown Athens, I came across to this guy that he was smoking in his balcony, at Notara str. I was blown away because his whole look (even the way he was smoking) was too Miami-sh.

Here’s a detail of the photo:

News > Still working on the new site!

A couple of days ago I tried to mess around a little bit with the css of my new site. After hours of working new things, I got to the point where I believe that the free “portfolium” theme from wpshower is great as it is, so I’ll keep (almost) all the default settings.

So far, I've uploaded 46 projects but there are many more to come... It's great knowing that you can find anything you want from me on this new site.

The site will be up on the net, on June 16th, the day of my birthday (right now, my url links to Behance iframe...).

Photography, inspiration > Old sign in Metaxourgeio!

Found this, while I was walking from my morning job (Omonoia square) to the Greek Designers Association (Metaksourgeio). I love vintage typography. Here’s a detail. “Καλύτερα” means “better”…

Weaving the blue and brown hearts

HB093

Another birthday card design for a guy. I almost cracked my head trying to figure out a new design for this one and at the end of the day, at the very last minute......I used my usual concept with a different layout and it worked! Phew! I'm so happy that my customer approved it otherwise I don't know what I would do considering the deadline is today hahaha.....there is no way I can come up with a new design and get it done by today. So it's a great relieve when she said she loved it! :D

My customer also requested a pop up inside and she gave me full freedom to design it anyway I like and I decided to do the weaving technique for the pop up and weaved some heart shapes to it. I also decorated the background with lots and lots of hearts in different sizes and colours. Level of difficulty ---> 7/10 haha!

Our Creative Spaces - Blackout

 Please excuse the pyjama bottoms!

So tomorrow it is here - the opening of the Rugby World Cup - and if you don't live in New Zealand you may not know that it is one of our biggest events ever and  will last for 6 weeks!

Everything is going black - (Credits: Greg Page, Ruapehu Bulletin)

It has been a long and dramatic time coming, from when we lost our chance to co-host the 1993 tournament, to our Prime Minister flying to Ireland in 2005 to help with our pitch to the IRB, to Christchurch's games being moved after the devastating earthquake in February this year. It is 24 years since we hosted the first World Cup (also 24 years since we won...) which makes me feel a bit old, but it is lovely to see the little ones getting excited (see Aimee's Father's Day post here).

Rugby World Challenge on Playstation 2

Even Mr Toddler knows something is up because 'Dadda fast cars' has been replaced with 'Dadda rugby ball' (apparently after much research this one is the best game).

I had to commemorate the occasion with a little shirt for our future All Black, those of you with eagle-eyes may recognise the applique fabric as a lily pad scrap! I was so excited when I found it, I think it makes up for losing some of the cup's ornate detail in order to make a stencil shape.

This personalised shirt is for a friend's little man, how cute is the alphabet fabric? (I found it at Cushla's). See what everyone else has made this week at Our Creative Spaces.

I have written before about not dressing my daughter in black, of course now I can't find a plain black shirt to decorate for her...

Note: Obviously I can't sell cup shirts but I have a limited number of black shirts left for personalising, details here
