My first tri-shutter card

AO055

Finally!! I did it!! I've been wanting to do a tri-shutter card since last year but it never really turned out the way it's suppose to be! haha! I've looked up in Youtube on how to make it but it seemed so difficult to make and it demotivated me to try it. Until one day I saw for the first time how it's done by my fellow card maker Miss Azilah from Kadkukis or formerly known as CupCakeCraft & Handmade Card during our 2nd Quilling gathering in KL. I was so excited to watch her make her tri-shutter card. She did it really really fast! Seriously! Before you know it, it's done! :) Do check out her blog to see her amazingly gorgeous tri-shutter card at the link above.

For my first try, I did a big one, a half A4 sized card. I didn't decorated much on it apart from pasting different pattern papers I got from a good friend of mine who gave away her paper scraps some time ago to me. Thank you Sandi!! :)  So I used them wisely in this card combining similar shades of blue, orange and green paper. I was thinking of adding some quilled shapes on it but was a bit lazy to do so right now hahahaha. Perhaps in my other tri-shutter cards I'll do that ;).

At first I thought that the tri-shutter card was so thick it wouldn't fit in my handmade envelope, but surprisingly it fits!! Perhaps because I didn't paste anything that's 3D a lot on it. Well, will do more experiments on it for my next try and see how it goes.

I know now that if you really believe in your dreams, you can do it! I sure proved it by making this card and so can you!! ;)

Crochet flowers and leaves

AO054

Hehe! Finally I get to blog about my new experiment with crochet flowers and leaves. :) I've been practicing really hard with this craft for quite some time now. I still have not got it quite right though. But at least I'm better at it now then I was before. All thanks to my aunt......my most patient crochet teacher hehe! :)

I used to crochet the flowers using the wool yarn....which was a bit thicker than the one I'm using now. I didn't like it that much so I changed the type of yarn for me to use for my handmade cards. I love this one much better. :)

I'm still new at this craft although I used to play a lot with crochet since small but I never really studied it closely, I just played with it so to speak......no rules, no specific measurements at all....I just crochet in my own way which was not the right way .......just wanted to have fun with it. But now, I want to do it right. :)
This card I made was just something simple that I came up with to see how my crochet flowers and leaves would look on a card. Nothing fancy in design at all.....it's as simple as can be. :)

Life is sweet Quilling Blog Hop

AO053

Hi! Welcome to the "Life is Sweet" Blog Hop! I've been invited to join in the quilling blog hop by Leesandra Diaz from The Sweet Spot Cards. I haven't been well lately but I tried my best to get one design done for this special occasion. I hope I get to blog this on time hehe! It's a last minute thing! huhu!

This is my first time ever to participate in a quilling blog hop. There are about 13 participants in this quilling blog hop from 5 continents. I have added the list of quiller for you to view below. Some of the participants are handing out blog candy as well! It would be great to check it out as you blog hop from one blog to another.

I made a design that is related to the theme itself. It's something I've never done before so I was super excited about making this ice cream cone. It's sweet hehe! Well.....it's ice cream....it's suppose to be sweet right? LOL. And like life.....we are suppose to enjoy it....just as much as we enjoy our ice cream. And I wrote something inside the card as well........something to relate to the wording on the card. "Life is sweet.......sweet like, you and me!" hehe! ;)

Thank you for hopping by here and do hop to the next quiller in line on the list! It's Amna! Have fun hopping! ;)

Blue butterfly

AO052

My second quilled butterfly! And it's blue! Sweet soft blue hehehe... ;)

Actually, this design is a request I got from a customer who was interested in 3 of my previous card designs. So I was asked to combine 3 different designs into 1! hehe! She was interested in my first quilled card which was a simple flower design I made using tight coils. You can view the card HERE.

She was also interested in the quilled butterfly that I made in the butterfly card at the link HERE . She wanted me to add it in this new card design. So I did as per request but changed the colors because she wanted pastel colors for her card. It's actually suppose to be a birthday card but I decided to publish it first before adding the wordings because I kinda like the card as it is without any wordings on it hehe! :)

The pop up design inside the card is actually from a thank you card that I made long time ago which she love so much and wanted me to add in this card. You can view the card at the link HERE. It's the same design but I changed the colors to match the colors of the quilled flowers. I must admit since I haven't done this pop up design for quite a while, so when I had to do it again, it was pretty tough! hehe! I've forgotten how to do it! LOL! :D Lesson learned!

I kinda like how the quilled flowers look like now compared to the ones I made the first time because the tight coils I made now looks much neater. I realised my earlier mistakes and tried to make it better this time. I also like the leaves I made because it's a combination of two different colors for each leaf. This is the first time for me to use this kind of technique. It's kinda tricky the first time but after doing it for a while, it's fun, fun, fun! :)

Blue themed owl card

AO051

I made another one of this chubby owls hehehe! And of course in my favourite color BLUE!!

Red owl themed cards

 AO050a

I made these red owl themed cards for a good friend of mine. She ordered them months ago. I was suppose to get the order done earlier but kept postponing making them until now. So I told myself, I have to get them done before the year ends. I'm so happy that I managed to get them all done today. I can post all of them tomorrow. Phew!

At first I made the design horizontal......then I remembered that, she wanted the cards to be vertical. So that's why there are two versions of the design. One horizontal and the other is vertical. You can view the vertical design below.

A050b

I've made owl cards before but the design of the quilled owl was a lot different and more complicated to make. This time around I made a simpler version. I love it because it's cuter and chubbier hehehehe. I don't know why I like to make things look chubby these days. My teddy bear is chubby and now even my owls are chubby hahahha. :D I like the owl's eyes as well.......they are so big....the owls look like it's been possessed!  Or hypnotized! hahaha! So funny!

Fly away with me....

 AO049

 Come fly away with me.......
to another world.....
just you and me....
be free.....

I was inspired by the quilled butterfly wings that Miyyah taught me during our quilling get together. In fact......some of us from the group made hot air balloons from the same method. I guess we all saw it the minute we tried making the butterfly wings. We knew that it would be suitable for making hot air balloons. I didn't get the chance to make one during the get together. But I've been meaning to make one once I get back to work and today, I managed to do that....finally! :)

To be honest, I didn't know how to go about making the clouds. Tried to search in the net for examples....but couldn't find any. So I just wing it! At first I made it using only 5 quilled circles.....but it looked a little weird, so I added one more quilled circle to make it look more like a cloud. I'm happy now with how it looks heehhe.

I was also thinking of a design for my October 2010 Blog Giveaway. I thought to myself......this would be a cute one to do for the giveaway. I needed a simple design since I will be making about 10 pieces of cards for October. That's a lot to handle. I can't imagine how am I going to handle November's and December's giveaway! Yikes! hehehehe! I'm not sure if people would like to win this card though hehehehe.....but I sure hope there will be supporters out there who would like to own it. :) Coz I sure love it a lot!

3 flowers card

AO048

It's that time of the month again where I will be holding a giveaway and for the September 2010 Blog Giveaway, I am a tad bit late at preparing a design for it. In the end this is what I came up with! hehe! I wanted the design to have the color blue. September is my favourite month of the year and my favourite color is blue so I decided to combine the two together.

This is a very simple card design using the quilling technique. I chose flowers as my subject matter again this time around because I love flowers! No doubt about it.....flowers have been my favourite motif since I started designing. So that's why I chose it for my September's giveaway card. One thing though that I did differently is the leaves on the stalk. I've always wanted to do this type of design whereby the leaves are arranged this way. Noticed how my designs for the giveaways are getting simpler and simpler?? hehehe.....that's because this month, I have to prepare 9 cards!! Yikes!! haha! Wish me luck!! :)

Quilled butterfly pattern

AO047

My first ever quilled butterfly card! hehehe! It's so simple!!! I'm so excited about this! This design is the result of so many experiments of quilled butterflies that I've been making for the past few days. So far, this particular one is the easiest and most suitable to combine with the three quilled marquise flowers. :)

Actually this card is meant for my August 2010 Blog Giveaway. Yup.....I'll be giving this card away to 8 lucky winners heheheh.....along with another surprise which I will be blogging about soon. :)

This card has no pop ups inside. Didn't plan to make any for it though. It's suitable for any occasion.....as a Thank you card....or Thinking of You card.....or whatever suits your fancy :). It can be anything you want it to be.

Red quilled owl

RED QUILLED OWL

I got a little crazy and made the owl red in color! LOL! I just wanted to see what it looks like if the owl was made using red paper black paper. Usually the color for owls would be in earth tones....but I simply wanted to see if it would look good with this combination. What do you think?? Does it look ok to you? Somehow I still prefer the earth tone combination as it looks more natural.

I haven't done the codes for the quilled owls yet.......nor have I done the envelopes for them either. I'm just experimenting with the idea for a while. I will be uploading the photos of the set of cards and envelopes once I'm done experimenting hehehehe......

My first quilled owl card!

BROWN QUILLED OWL

A great pal of mine, CC, from US ordered a few owl cards from me last year. I have already posted to her some of them and I still owe her a few more. She ordered from me this owl card design, HB017 which she adores so much. So I made those for her but left the inside blank as she requested coz she wanted to write her own personal wishes inside. The cards are meant to be given to her family....and the owl is their family totem. Cool huh? My family don't have a totem.....if we had one...I wonder what would it be? hehehe!

She suggested that I make a variety of designs for the owl cards.....not just one particular design for her....or maybe use the same design but change the colors. I liked the idea! So, after posting her some of the order, I decided to make other owl card designs for her. I thought of making the owl cards using the quilling technique. I'm so glad that she loved the idea! At the time I didn't even know how to go about it as I have never done an owl before using the quilling technique. So I made some research online to see if there were any quilled owl designs that I can try out. But most of the designs are so complicated to do and  is so time consuming to make them. The easier ones I found are just too simple and were not to my liking. In the end, I decided to designed my own quilled owl.....quite a simple one as well but took me quite some time to get it just the right shape that I love. It was fun though to try out so many shapes and sizes of quilled owls....I love experimenting with the shapes. :)

I was also confused with the color combination......I just didn't know what color to use. So in the end I tried the brown with black combination first. And I loved it! As you can see, this layout is almost the same as HB017 except there are no pine leaves around it and the owl is quite small in size. I used a much good quality paper as the base of the card, a metallic bronze paper which I love. I like to keep  the layout simple.......no ribbons or glitters or sequins or anything for that matter........just paper and those cute wobbly eyes that my other great pal, Sandi, gave me! hehehe! Love them! At last, I've found another design where I can use those cute wobbly eyes hehehe! I've already made other quilled owls in other color combination......and I will publish them here soon for all to see! :)

Quilled roses

Quilled roses card

I'm so happy that finally I managed to prepare the card that I promised to make for the June 2010 Blog Giveaway. A quilled flower theme pop up card!  I'm so happy with how it turned out. :)  At first I had a hard time figuring what color combination I was going to use. In the end I chose the pink and green combo. :)  For the quilled flower theme.....I wasn't so sure of what type of quilling flowers I should make. Then I thought of the quilled roses...and so I practiced and practiced to get that same size of roses so many times, my fingers hurt....huhuhuhu. But at last, I got them figured out. So happy about that! Yay!

This a square card with a lovely apple green color. I love this color. So fresh and bright looking! I love how it looks when combined with the white doily and pink combo. I also made a simple pop up inside the card. Flowers weaved at the pop up :). Very simple...very cute heheheh. As mentioned before.....there are no wordings for this card. It can be used for any occasion. :)
