Red and black
2:01 AM
HANDMADE
TOY002
My first order of the tri-shutter card :). Very nerve wrecking actually. Things got even more worse when I was asked to add photos inside the card and I'm just not good at making the photos look good when printed. I'm still learning how to edit photos and the progress is pretty slow. But somehow I have to make it work and make my customer happy. And this is the end result. :)
For this card, I tried to make a patterned paper that would suit the colors I was going for such as red, dark red, black, white and silver. I stamped some black dotted swirls clear stamp on white paper and then decorated it with punched out red heart shapes. You can see it at the photo above. The dotted red on white paper is a patterned paper I got from someone. I thought it would be perfect for this card. The colors matched and so I didn't hesitate to use them.
Now I understand why my fellow card maker, Miss Azilah have had headaches before when making this tri-shutter cards......as I almost puked making this myself. It's just too much to think about really. Everything has to be balanced. It has to match up otherwise it would look weird. It took me a long time to figure out the design. Perhaps in time I'll be finding it easy to do but for now, it sure isn't huhuhehehaha :D.

For the girl who stole my heart #2
7:43 AM
HANDMADE
V045
I received a request from a customer who wished for a V038 card design with a different color combination. A combination of RED and WHITE. I kinda like the idea of seeing those two colors combined in this design. I had to add soft pink in it to soften the tone a little. The silver color always adds a sparkle in the design. :)
There was no request for pop ups, so I didn't make one. Just some wordings printed inside that was so beautifully written by my customer. How I wished someone would send me something like that hehehee.

Solitaire heart

I must say that this is the simplest card I've ever made in my history of card making! LOL! :D Well....close. Perhaps there were other designs I've made in the past that were simpler but I've forgotten already. Don't blame me if I forget these things....it happens sometimes hehehe.....perhaps I need to eat more Omega-3 supplements for better memory! ;)
I've been on my "experimenting mode" lately. Experimenting with my new clear stamps hehe. I bought some new ones recently and I've been wanting to try them out. And this is just one of the experiments that I'm loving at the moment. As you can see from the photo above, what I did was I stamped on the red card stock using a script writing clear stamp with black ink. I stamped it a few times to get that effect on the whole front page of the card. In other words, I sort of decorated the empty card stock with the script writing stamp all over it.

Chubby heart
5:38 AM
HANDMADE
Which one you love best?? The chubby heart on the left or the slim heart on the right? hehe! I am finding it hard to decide because I kinda love them both right now. Originally, I have been making the quilled heart card using the slim heart template but recently I got a request from a customer to make the heart look a little chubbier. And so I did it!! As per request. ;) She is very happy with it of course hehe....but the whole idea got me thinking...hmmmmm ;)
You see...when I think about it, perhaps the chubby heart should be made on a bigger card to make it look more balanced? What do you think? Because all this time, I've been making those hearts on that small card with that particular slim heart size and I've always thought that it's the right size of heart for the card. Now, when I look at the chubby heart, I question myself whether I should be making them in that size or should I just stick to the original slim heart size. Decisions decisions! hehe! Should I change the size for good?? Or should I just do both hehehe! After all, art is subjective right? ;)
So..........I would like to know your opinion on this matter........which quilled heart card you love best? The chubby one or the slim one? ;)

White love birds on black
12:33 AM
HANDMADE
W014
After reading a comment from my fellow blogger and card maker, Miss Azilah from Cupcake Craft and Handmade Card, who suggested that the wedding love birds would look lovely on a black card, I immediately thought it was a good idea to try. So I did! ;) And here it is hehehe......hope you like it Azilah :).
I made some changes on the branch to make it look different from the wedding love birds card I made yesterday. I guess that's one of the difference other than the change of color. :) This card is not exactly black.....but it's actually dark metallic grey. I purposely chose this color instead of a pitch black card to tone down the contrast between the white paper and the background of the card and also to make it look more elegant with the metallic color. :)
p.s. My Mom made a comment too when she saw these white wedding love birds......she said, "Why did you make the birds look white like ghosts??!!". "Is this a sympathy card for those who have lost a loved one?" Hahahaha!! Then I said...."No Mom.....it's A WEDDING CARD laaaaaaaaaa! The birds symbolizes the bride and the groom......brides usually wear white on their wedding day remember??? hahahahaha........gosh!! :D

Wedding love birds
2:52 AM
HANDMADE
W013
I'm still in the love theme mood hehe....can't help it. The quilled birds gave me another inspiration last night. Inspired to do wedding card design with white quilled birds on it. I have done wedding cards before with white doves and even white butterflies on dark red colored card and I love the two combination. So I made a couple of white love birds and arranged it in this new layout.
It's very simple.....clean look. The only fancy thing I did was added the tiny white sequin flower on the female bird's head and sort of made the female bird a "white veil" on her head as well...hehehhe.
This is actually a card I made for my friend who is getting married soon. Hope she loves it as much as I do. I plan to print wordings inside to congratulate her and her hubby on their wedding. Can't show it here as it is kinda personal :).
This card can also be a wedding invitation card. But I don't know if I have the energy to make these in bulk hehehe....I definitely can make 50 of these....but 100?? Not sure....huhuhu....1000?? I'll faint! hahahaha! :D

Teddy bears in love...
9:04 PM
HANDMADE
V040
:) I have a big smile on my face as I am blogging about this new quilled teddy bear card because one of the teddy bears is wearing a TIE!!! hahaha!! Funny isn't it?? But I like it anyways :). I just didn't know what else to put on it and suddenly I thought of a tie....a black tie to match it with. Made from black paper which I cut out using plain scissors of course. Just a simple looking tie :).
I made this card for a customer of mine who wants to give it to her future hubby on her wedding day hehehe. Hope she likes it. Otherwise I would have to think of another design for her...hehehe. :))
I filled up the card with the teddy bears and all......so much so that there is no space for the wordings.......then I thought of stamping the wordings inside and added two cute little hearts of red and blue to symbolize the two lovely couple :).
*Wish I had someone to give this card to.... :P (booohoooohooooo) LOL!

Teddy bear couple
6:38 PM
HANDMADE
V039
I received an order for one of my quilled teddy bear cards but with a different twist! Instead of one teddy bear, I was asked to make two! Yup! A couple! How romantic hehe! ;)
My customer's fiance' is a sailor.....so she requested I make a sailor cap/hat or whatever you are suppose to call it for the blue teddy bear. I'm not sure of the right word for it hehehe. I quilled a hat for the blue teddy bear but it didn't look nice....so I drew one instead and pasted the hat on top of the teddy bear's head hehehe. I also added a tiny white flower sequin on top of the pink teddy bear's head hehehe! I thought it looked cute that way. Just to symbolize a girl. :)
The card had to be a bit bigger than the usual card I used for my teddy bear card designs. Because I had to put two instead of just one teddy on it. This one is 13cm x 18cm in size. Just a little smaller than the half A4 size card.
There are no wordings inside....I left it blank....but there is a paper inserted inside the card for my customer to write her own personal wishes. :)

Remember this design? hehehe! Yup...It the same design as "The guy who stole my heart" card that I made some time ago. I thought of making a girl's version of the design hehehe.....with a purple and pink theme.
The card itself is actually metallic dark purple in color and it matched perfectly with my purple ribbon with silver lining. I just had to use that ribbon for this card! It's just so suitable for each other hehehe.
I have not made the pop up inside the card......I'm still not sure if I want to use the same pop up design like the one I did for the guy's version or should I make a different one. I can't make up my mind yet! huhu!

Quilled red teddy bear
12:40 AM
HANDMADE
V036
I'm so happy I get to blog about this quilled red teddy bear today! Yay! I made this quilled red teddy bear before the flood together with the quilled pink teddy bear I made for the giveaway....but I never got the chance to do a card design for it. So today I decided to get it done! :)
I wanted to do a simple and straight to the point kinda card you know. Just like other quilled artists I know of online who likes simple styles. I've always make my designs look complicated, so this time around I thought I'd give it a try and do simple designs and see how it turns out.
As you can see, I used the same clear stamp that I used for the quilled pink teddy bear. But in this design since the card itself has a smooth finish, I was able to stamp the wordings on it instead of stamping it inside the card. And I love it!! :) :) :)

For the guy who stole my heart....

Guess when did I got the request to design this card? Last May 2010! Gosh....so long ago....and only today, I finally got it done. Phew! Honestly when I received the request, I didn't know how to go about designing it. Because it was something different from the usual requests I've received before. That's why I took such a long long time to get it done. Luckily for me, my customer was not in a hurry to send this card to the receiver so, that sure gave me a lot of time to figure it out.
My customer said that she wanted the card to be of blue and white.....and the rest was up to me to decide. She provided me with the wordings though which I thought was lovely hehehe..... ;). I wanted to incorporate some quilling designs on the card but at first I couldn't decide on what type of quilling form I was going to do. In the end I decided to quill a heart. It's just like the other quilled heart patterns I've done before except that the color combination is different. Since the whole card is about 90 % blue.....I fell in love with it instantly. I love blue! :)
The card stock is dark metallic blue in color. It shines the minute it hits the light. Love it! Seriously I didn't know how to do the layout with the wordings like the above for the front design. In the end I arranged it separately whereby I place half of the wordings at the top....and the other half at the bottom. Then, I was lost.....didn't know what to put in the middle.....that's when the idea came to do the quilled heart. Then I made dots to connect the top wordings and the bottom wordings with the quilled heart. The design is kinda symbolic....I was trying to show a connection between the two of them.....I wonder if you see what I mean hehehehe. I can get kinda "overboard" with my designs sometimes.....sometimes only I understand what I'm trying to convey in my designs....hahahahaha. :D.
Then......I had a hard time figuring out how to do the pop up inside.....I went to do some research online to find some inspiration and I was inspired by Lori Whitlock's pop up hearts.....I loved it.....and tried to do something similar but I made it my own by changing the patterns a bit. You can view her heart pop up design HERE. :)

A good friend of mine requested me to make this card for her last night. I told her that I'm still on leave.....but it's very very important to her it seems for me to do it last night, so I did it anyways. Kawan punya pasal......siapkan juga laaaa......hehehe.....Aaaahhhhh.....people in love simply just can't wait can they? They can be so impatient hehehehe......
I've done quilled hearts before......quite a few designs with various color combination on a beige colored card but this time around I did it using one of my favourite color combo which is the red, white and maroon combo on a black colored card. I've used this color combination many a times before for a few love theme cards. So I thought it would be nice to use it for one of my quillled hearts designs. I'm surprised on how it turned out. I'm glad my friend loved it so much :).

Quilled heart pattern #7

Yes! Finally I've done the 7th quilled heart card today! Yay! It's a combination of yellow, orange and red....very striking indeed....very bright! :)
So now it's all done....I've got 7 different color combination of quilled heart cards to be given away by the end of this month. Phew! I guess I won't be making anymore new ones for a short while after this because I need to concentrate on other designs I've got planned for the rest of the month. I can't believe soon it's going to be end of July.....August drawing near.....time sure flies fast these days....before you know it, it's already end of the year hehe....scary! There's so many things to do....so little time. Will I be able to make it on time..? Only God knows....we can plan....but only God will determine what's going to happen. Hope things will run smoothly for all of us. :)

Quilled heart pattern #6
10:04 PM
HANDMADE
V031
Gosh....this is my sixth quilled heart pattern card hehehe.....I have one more quilled heart card to make for the giveaway. And I think I already have an idea of what color combination I'm gonna use for the 7th one :). I'm getting better at arranging the round quilled paper to form the heart shape. I remember the first few hearts I made were out of shape! LOL! It's so funny when I look back at the photos of them. The more I practice at it, the more comfortable I get at making them. It becomes easy over time. :)
I really like the colors I chose for this heart. A mix of cool greens and soft pink and soft purple. Like flowers and leaves mix together in a heart. I'm just playing around with the colors I have and see how it matches. There's just so many other combination to try out. I'm loving it! :)
